Sou Inomoto's long running project, scum with a new full-length, solo CD.
Mastered by Grant Richardson

Taken from CD linear notes:
An three-dimentional, electro-acoustic world that
blends a haze of disquiet and emptiness. An electronic
rampart, which could also be called an innovation of
scum, created with remnants of cut-ups accumulated
over 13 years of activity. What will be found over that
rampart: hope or despair?

I first saw Scum at the end of 2011 (I think) at Koenji Studio DOM as part of the massive end-of-year pile-on that used to happen. Ucchy from Cunts and Napalm Death is Dead had been raving about him to me. He wasn't wrong.
It was a fantastic performance, yes, it was "cut-up" noise, displaying many of the familiar tropes of that subgenre, but the sound was so damaging, gut-punching attacks of glitched-out feedback, electrocution.
In that small room of a Koenji studio, I knew I had experienced something special. This was hardcore music. Over the last 10 years or so, it has been a pleasure to bear witness to the evolution of the project, incorporating drones, industrial clatter, crude synthesizers, all while maintaining that key mangled blitz.
The tracks on this CD incorporate all the aforementioned sounds: waves of textural radiation, insect warfare swarming, dead radio waves, something is not right .
Fucking noise, it's here. Teasing, seducing, unleashing. No one gets out of here alive. Or do they? It's definitely touch and go, but we wake up wasted on plains of looping static. Still not safe.
Maybe none of us are.
